Do not jump in and bathe your horse’s whole body when your horse just came from a run or its usual day work. It is only safe to have its legs watered first to cool down your horse’s body temperature.

To determine if you can already move to your horse’s other body parts for the bath, try to touch the back part of your horse’s legs. Feel the vein on the inner part of the leg and if it’s no longer hot, that is the time to bathe your horse’s whole body.

The reason why you have to cool the body temperature of your horse first before bathing its whole body is for it not to have any pain in the abdominal region. If this step is not followed, your horse’s bowel movement could also be affected.

Now as soon as you have rinsed your horse’s entire body with water you can then pour some horse shampoo on some sponge and scrub it all over your horse’s body.

Put some extra attention on the horse’s tail part especially if it has a thick hair. That area is usually the one that catches up more dirt more than any of its body parts. Rinse your horse after shampooing.

After the whole process is done, don’t forget to place an anti-sweat sheet or a cooler specifically made for horses after each bath. This will ensure the balance of your horse’s body temperature.

Owning a horse requires to have horse accessories that you could purchase over at a tack house. A saddle is indeed a must and so is the bridle.

The bridle is the one that you often see with horses which basically acts like their headgear. It has three parts, which are the headstall, a bit, and the reins.

The headstall is the band that fits around the horse’s head while the bit is the one that you see located in the horse’s mouth. The reins on the other hand hold the bit.

There are 3 different styles for different types of bridles, which are namely the English styles, stock horse and working styles and the specialty styles.

You will have the Snaffle, Pelham, and the Double bridle under the English style. The Snaffle has a bit and a set of reins as part of its head support.

It is used along with a cavesson noseband, which can be adjusted if you want to achieve a greater precision. This style is best to use of you will be playing polo.

And finally, for the specialty styles; it has two types which are the Gag and the Halter. The gag is the type with rounded cheek pieces that goes from the top and bottom ends of the gag bit’s holes. You will see these being used during polo and some rodeo events.

The Halter has these additional cheekpieces that quickly releases the holding of the bit and the reins. This is type is often seen used by the cops.
