Horses are lovely to look at and are totally useful especially when you live in the countryside. But horses are far from your ordinary house pets like your dogs or your cats. These animals will require more maintenance than the usual.
When you buy a horse, make sure that it’s got its proper cabin where he could rest. You can’t have a horse inside your house. Your horse’s nook must be big and wide enough for it to stay in.
Owning a ranch and having a horse barn is advisable if you want to have a horse. A wide space for it to run freely is a major requirement.
Now aside from sheltering your horse, make sure that you take care of its meal regularly. Feeding your horse depends on its body weight more than its height. You can consult your veterinarian on the exact amount of food your horse will require upon checking their weight.
Make sure that your horse gets a regular annual medical check up to free them from all the threats of any animal diseases. A regular deworming is also included with that just to make sure that their whole body system is healthy.
You wouldn’t want to overload your horse with such tasks that they will find it hard to manage. The workload that you will give them must be in accordance to their body weight and height as well.
For example, if your horse is 12HH in height and 230kg- 350kg in weight; we suggest that you give it only a light to moderate workload.
That could involve quiet hacking and light schooling or a daily hacking for only a couple of hours. You could also do some half an hour of schooling and go riding to some competitions.
Otherwise, giving them such hard and intense workload could harm their body and weaken their immune system. Never abuse your horse’s strength. Although they are known to have such great energy and intense stamina, a limit is still there for them to be kept.
