Owning a horse could cost you a lot when it comes to its maintenance. But there are ways to save money when buying for its accessories.

One of the things that you must have if you are thinking of buying a horse is a saddle. It serves as a support during your ride or when you have things to load using your horse.

A saddle is fastened to your horse’s back through a girth. The girth keeps the saddle in place and will make your ride more comfortable and balanced. Having a saddle is definitely for your safety.

There are different types of saddles. Some are made for camels and other animals and they fall under the specialized ones. But for horses, you have to pick the equestrian saddle as it is specifically designed for it.

Now we know that this particular equipment could cost a lot so we thought of giving you an advice to purchase some used ones. They are practical and could really save you a lot.

You can find some used saddles being sold online but chances are you would have to risk when it comes to its quality. We highly recommend that you buy it personally in a vintage store, or in garage sales.

Brand new saddles could cost up to $3,000 especially if they are made of high quality leather and if they carry a signature brand like Jaguar, Albion, etc. Ordinary saddles could range from $1,500 to $2,000.

Buying used saddles could sometimes cost you only $600! Which is a lot of savings compared when you buy a brand new.

Although it will still depend on the materials used with it like some are made of buffalo leather which could still cost you around $1,800 for used saddles. But you will probably pay twice than that amount if you choose to buy a brand new one.

You can always check out your local horse equipment stores as they usually sell used saddles as well. They are safe and you have nothing to worry about its quality as long as you have checked it properly before purchasing it.

Don’t forget to check for the right size of your saddle as well. Being sure of its measurement fitting your horse is also important.
